The Two Worlds of Marshall Morlumbun (scenes from an unfinished film)
Using material from 1976 this 9min edit re-imagines a never completed 16mm film project shot with members of the West Kimberley community of Mowanjum. Conceived around the precocious talent of then 11yo dancer Marshall Morlumbun the unedited footage remained unseen until 2020.
This video now stands as a document of the deep cultural significance of dance at Mowanjum. Marshall's importance as a ‘man of dance’ within the community was a constant right up until his passing in 2023.
